N-Butyl Benzene or NBB is an organic compound with the chemical formula C10H14.

The CAS number of this compound is 104-51-8. It is a colourless at room temperature. Butylbenzene has 2 isomers of which n-butylbenzene contains a phenyl group attached to the 1 position of the butyl group. It has a sweet aroma and is slightly greasy in texture. It is a highly flammable liquid and evaporates speedily. Normal Butyl Benzene is less dense than water and insoluble in it.

• N-Butyl Benzene or NBB can undergo oxidation to form butyrophenone. This chemical compound can be used in the production of N-aryl azoles through an oxidant-free and selective C(sp-2)-H animation reaction.
• CAS number 104-51-8 is often used in the synthesis of alkylated pentacene and ladder-type oligo(p-phenylene)s to improve its solubility in commonly used organic solvents.
• NBB can be utilised as a plasticizer, surface active agent, polymer linking agent and as a solvent for coatings.
• It is also used in the making of plastic as a solvent and is found in asphalt components and naphtha constituents.
